What did you do today to your Ranger/Bronco...etc

I looked at them.
+1

In fact, I may take a stroll over and look at some of them up close in a couple minutes. Tomorrow I intend to spend some quality time turning a wrench on my choptop though. Today was Church and then some time messing with the lawn tractors. Got the oil changed and a new fuel filter on my big GT, pulled the last of the plow brackets off and probably going to throw the 50" deck back on it here before it gets dark. I converted it to use locking lynch pins instead of hairpins for the mounts, makes it a snap to put it together or take it apart with no busted knuckles.

Tomorrow I will drive one of them.

In a few hours I might go out and decide which one it will be and put my tools in it.

Today was church, and then thinking about trading the Escape and looking at potential replacements.

Speaking of which... I forgot....

I drove dad's Ranger to Church this morning. I was running behind so mom and dad took the Explorer. I thought about taking my F-150, but the Ranger moves a little faster and the keys were sitting right there and...... lol.

I love driving that Ranger. I fully intend to build one for myself. Once I get the rest of my junk fixed up that is. Of course, I want to rebuild the motor and go for a 347 stroker kit with some other goodies before dropping it under the hood. That and I need to find an appropriate Ranger to receive the engine.

For those who missed it....

Dad's Ranger (aka the Little Red Rocket) was a joint project between myself and my dad. It started with a 2000 Ranger extended cab (xlt, loaded, auto, 4x4, 4.0L) that had a bad motor (the crank snapped off the front of the block). Put the drivetrain out of a 99 Mercury Mountaineer (engine, trans, awd transfer case) in it. Proved to be a fairly easy swap, all things considered and it's a blast to drive. Looks totally stock. No smoking tires on takeoff either, it just rockets off.

Nothing, the Rat is good that way Yuh did good Wild Bill. Just letting the bad tire slow you down Blow outs get scary if you stand on the brakes. or play dodge'em. Keep the greasy side down :icon_thumby:

Well all I did was put abot $95.00 of gas in her and drove to and from work. Was going to go wash it but it just started raining...

Maybe tommarow.

My Front Passenger Tire decided it wanted a divorce at 65mph. So what's this with blow outs and people flipping their vehicles? I didn't have a problem, the blow out scared the shit out of me but I just let it coast to almost a stop as I pulled over. I think that will patch right up with some duct tape LOL.

Come to think of it I had one of those infamous Firestone tread separations happen in my Ranger late one night on the highway doing about 80 mph. Right front decided to go. Blam. Aside from the noise, there was just a little twitch in the wheel, I just let off the gas, eased on the brake and downshifted till I came to a stop on the shoulder.

That was the good part. The bad part was that earlier that day I washed it and rotated the tires and in the process let the spare tire down and pulled it out to clean it off and air it up. In my hurry to run off, I left the spare tire, the jack, and the tire iron laying behind where I parked my truck. I was only going down to spend some time with my girl, so I figured no problem, right? Yea. My dad was NOT happy to get a call from me at 3am asking if he could bring me my spare tire, jack, and tire iron. Especially since both of us needed to be up at 5:30 for work.

Ahh, to be young and dumb again....

Well considering the amount of current body damage, the less damage I can do to it the less money I have to try to get to fix it LOL. Looking at some tires here next month for $260 for some used 215/75-15's, didn't quite have the money this month, I have 2 already, and realized today that the wheels on my utility trailer match a couple wheels on my B2 so I'm going to do some wheel swapping before I go have new tires installed on the B2 so I at least have 4 matching wheels on the B2, I could care less about matching wheels on the trailer. Given what I have found on a couple wheels I don't really trust the ones on my B2 as a couple of the lug holes are a bit larger than they should be, so I'm going to be swapping them as I go. This wasn't my first blow out on a front tire, my last one was on a 1988 Ford F-250 4x4 on the freeway at 75mph pulling a travel trailer, that one was by far scarier, I was more prepared for the one on my B2, I knew it was just a matter of time before tires started failing given the crappy shape they're in, now it will be just a to and from work vehicle until next month. However it made a 70 mile trip this morning before the blow out, and I have to say it runs awesome other than the tires and the body damage LOL. Luckily when the tire blew there weren't any other vehicles around so I just eased it over off the side of the highway with absolutely no trouble.

I guess I've just had enough things explode around me from Iraq that a tire blow out just don't bother me LOL. All I can say is avoid slamming on the brakes or making fast turns when a blow out happens, that's what causes the vehicle to try to operate on its top.

Oh and the under side of my B2 is currently extremely greasy, or well more oily due to the rear main seal leak. However the trip this morning and back home didn't lose much oil so maybe its getting dirty enough its not leaking as bad LOL.
