Tried posting in the wheel and tire forum, but got only two or three responses and nobody really ventured an opinion. Granted, I'll have the final say, but I'd like to get some of ya'lls thoughts.

The vehicle: I'm going to 35" tires (it has 33's on it now). I am not taking the 33's off these rims because the tires are still usable, but I don't think they will be if I dismount them and try putting them on other rims.

I keep waffling on what flavor of rim to go with (steel or alloy). The "soft 8s" that everyone and their brother seem to go with just don't tickle my fancy, I want something that isn't ridiculously common and suits the truck, I'm just not sold on what design or type of rim. I'm not overly worried about running alloys on it, the truck will see a good bit of street use and only mild off-roading (I have no desire to smash up a straight and nearly rust-free body - I'm building something else more suitable for that purpose). Please keep in mind that the color of the truck may or may not change... right now it's a blue camo pattern, but I haven't decided if it will stay or if it will be shot a solid dark blue metallic - I'd like my rim choice to look good either way.

I have the cragar v5's (the steel 5 spoke) I like them and like the look. They're a lot more solid than the blackrock wheels, and they are maade a lot better too. The welds are just less messy and the steel is thicker on the cragars. I also like the aluminum 5 spoke wheels. Those outlaws or what ever they call them (the ones with a bunch of holes) are alright, but they're everywhere, including junkyards. I had a set, but they just seem outdated. But I do like the faux beadlocks, I just think they look cool, so that's my vote.

I run the AR172 polished wheels. I bought the truck new in July '99 and added the wheels in July 2000 when I did the suspension lift. They still look new and are easy to maintain.

I have the street locks on both my Ranger (it has 35" BOGGERs on it) and my Samurai. I just put them on my Samurai so no wheeling in it yet, but I have beat on them on the Ranger.....

Just an idea for ya....

Those look wicked what did they run you? I'm looking to get offset rims since my 31s rub a tiny bit, of the top of your head any idea what offset is good?

That is a nice truck! Glad to see you're still lurking!

I've thought about the beadlocks and the black steel rims, but I'm still not sure how it will look on mine being the blue camo. Might look like too much black with the tires. I had black steelies for my winter rims on my Ranger, they looked sweet, especially when I threw on some chrome center caps. But the truck was dark blue and all blacked out (headlights, taillights, windows).

Simple black would look best.

I wouldnt run alloys up here if they where free. At least if I bash a steel wheel I can beat the dog crap out of it and make it work to get home.

I like my alloys but we have no rocks to speak of around here.

Oh dont get me wrong they look fine just not a great idea for here and alot of other places. I dont tempt murphys law around these parts.

Edit. 85 your truck is a sweet ride, it would dig wheelin up here.

Ttailworthyfab 16.5's, you can get 37" tires all day for $200 for 4, double bead locks. Plus vibration from being unable to balance them, and the used mil tires are stiff as rocks, your D35 will eat bearings from the added weight....but I like em!

i like the last 2 rims... but the chrome/black one would look kinda out of place on your rig....no offense, its just they are shiny, kinda updated styling
so I voted for the last one.

Those wagon wheels look good. To bad you dont want to strip them skins off them. Sand blasted and powder coated in chrome black would be ass bad.

Crager Soft 8's FTW.

Ahh... no. Everybody and their brother runs Soft 8's around here. They lift it, throw Soft 8's and muds on it, then drive around like they're hot s.... so no.

Yea, but I'm not looking to bash this truck, so alloys work fine for me. My trail rig project (that suffered a setback since some @#$%^&*! stole my axles) will get steel rims because it will be beat on.

No. I have a set of five 35" tires for 15" rims, I just need rims. I'm NOT putting 37's on my choptop. Period.

The paint will either get touched up (so it's shiny and new looking again) or it will get painted a solid dark metallic blue, so I'm not sure that it will look all that out of place. But that's kinda why I threw this thread up here to see what ya'll think.
