My Bronco has the 2.8, has a new card. Engine fires up and runs but pretty thick black smoke comes out of the exhaust. It is not blowing oil at all, just un burnt fuel. Any ideas?
I can't imagine that a poorly adjusted carb would be the only symptom here. Did you adjust the needles at all? Float? Jets are the correct (factory) size?
A buddy had an Edelbrock 4bbl carb on a 302 that ran richer than I have EVER seen - there was literally a cloud following it everywhere. Both needles had been turned in so far that they ripped huge holes in the carb and basically just let fuel in unchecked no matter where they were. Always good to wash the cylinder walls with fuel!
