I was painting the tube work on the explorer one day, so while I had the spray cans out I did this.

Before (lame):

After (sweet):

Next mod was a bed rack to fit my RTT on. It took about a day to finish.

Material:
Front and side hoops - 1.5 1/8 wall
Square cross bars - 1.25 3/16 wall
Angle iron - 1.5 3/16 wall

Fab:

Welds:

Powder coated satin black and all set up.

Latest mod: painted the wheels satin black, but left the outer ring.

Future mods are 35s, gears and a programmer.

That tent is wicked, I like what you did to the wheels. Any other pictures of them painted black?

Also I may be blind but I don't see any difference in the Before/After pictures:dunno:

Sorry guys, I guess I didn't set my subscriptions! I'll change that now. Thanks for the compliments.

MountainMike, here are some closer pictures of the wheels. I just roughed them up with scotchbrite pads, cleaned with acetone, taped off the outter ring and sprayed them with outdoor Satin Rustoleum.

Here is another pic of the tent setup in the driveway.

Oh, I also painted all of the plastic trim since it was grey and not black anymore. Quick example:

Some towing duty before I sold the Explorer...
