I have a few extra bucks, LOL, and I am now looking for a toy. A ridiculous, impractical toy. I came in to a bunch of cash from former employer that ****ed up and decided a settlement was best and now, I am rifle shopping along with diesel hunting...

So i am wondering, is the Barret M82A1 worth the price over a Bushmaster .50 BMG? I fired the Barret in my military days but never a left handed bolt Bushmaster. Anyone have some experience? I can get the Bushmaster for 3200 locally, or hunt for a Barret which has an MSRP of 10 grand......

I would save the money....... and get something practical I could enjoy for years to come and not be constantly checking laws everytime i cross a state line.

Frank

but that's just me....... the one gun I want that is impractical is an original .45-70
and one day I'll have a custom model 1911 .45 but in the meantime I'm ok with just a good old fashioned colt .45

The Cabellas has them here in Ft. Worth, Texas for $1800. You might give them a call.
The bushmasters that is.

One day, I too will own a Barrett .50BMG. Till then, gotta work hard, go to college, and save up. The next rifle on my list is a Ruger SR-556 in a 6.8SPC caliber.

In this economy the sensible thing would take your lawsuit money and put it in the bank......but then again I never got any free money before!

I'm always wanted a m82a1 I think they look awsome. I'd however recommend the m88b it's in .338 lapua it's cheaper to shoot and will shoot out there almost as good as the barret and it will do it cheaper. The rifle isn't subject to many of the same laws that a .50cal is and it's about half the price brand new of a m82 shop around and you can get a deal. It's got all the same wow factor to impress your friends with to:icon_thumby:. Either way whatever you get is gonna be SWEET. good luck

Funny part, there was no lawsuit. HA. They were afraid of one so I got contacted with an offer. I love how scared these companies are of liabilities.

a bolt gun does have a advantage over the Barret:

slows your rate of fire and makes it less of a temptation to see just how fast you can toss them rounds down range...

although i can't but help wonder how much i would be cackling away like a madman as i empty the magazine.

He also got shoved back about 10 inches for that five round volley. That had to hurt.
