The current hood/fender mount is rubbing paint off my hood, so it has to go... so I was wondering if this would work? A bar across the two sides of the bed.

Would I need to use a no ground plate antenna, or would a regular antenna and mount work since the bar is metal and the bolts would be too?

Thanks

just bolt it to the bed? forget the bar, just get a mount and bolt it to the front of the bed? right below the sliding window, where the antenna is drawn.

If you continue with your idea I would use a no ground antenna.

I'm not going to drill any more holes than i have to... this idea uses two existing ones.

4ft... I held it up where it would go, and about 2/3 of it is above the cab.

Thanks

Well, I decided to just go with this idea, and I got the bar today. I'm going to run a ground wire from the mount to the frame to be sure.

That's exactly how I had mine mounted before putting the rollbar in. Worked excellent (provided you have a full-length whip anyway. Shorter antennas you might have some trouble with the SWR on due to proximity of the cab).

Alrighty, I got a bar made and got the antenna stud attached... I placed an order @ Right Channel Radios for a new coax and a spring, so hopefully by the end of the week I will have it tuned.
