After 53,000 miles the brakes are loosing their feel. What are some nice pads and shoes to get. I want something that will last a long time....

Truck is a 2003 Ranger 2WD.

Pads and shoes that last a long time will chew up rotors and drums....

But if you really want that, any ceramic pad/shoe will do.

Best bet is to stick with the OEM. Plus motorcraft shoes and pads have lifetime warranty.

You buy motorcraft from your ford dealer

If you go with cheaper pads, dont go with the lowest grade, go with a mid-grade pad.

I have seen way to many low grade pads separate to reccomend uding them

Any other pads / shoe suggestions besides motorcraft. Ford dealers are kinda far for me to go... but I will if I must...

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
I've put NAPA's Ceramix pads on a few of our vehicles, I like them real well. The NAPA HD rotors last a long time too. The ones on the front of my wife's Taurus have been cut three times and they're still legal. She doesn't downshift on hills because "it might hurt the transmission". :icon_twisted:
Despite her best efforts, she has not been able to kill the ceramic brakes.
NAPA lists two rotors for most vehicles, get the more expensive ones. Their pads and rotors don't cost an arm and a leg.

I tried getting the "better" Napa pads for my F-150 and noticed they gave me the wrong ones on a Sunday when they were closed, I had my dad send them back and get new ones the next day and I think he somehow got the cheapies (again I noticed this on a Sunday but I tried them anyway). They squeeked like no other and seemed purpose built to change my front suspension and wheels black. I got sick of them and canned them for a set of OEM for the same price as the better Napa pads and it is like a new truck.

Well my dad picked em up. He got "original" ford ranger pads....

so yeah. I put those on today. still havent done the shoes though.

Curious... These brakes dont feel that powerful... I think my ABS isn't working properly or something. The ABS light isnt on but when you get to a certain place with the pedal it doesnt want to stop any harder and the ABS hasnt kicked on at all...
