went to renew the plates on my wifes car saturday and while looking around i see a poster. on this poster it said starting january 1st 2008 vehicles in and around chicago and east st louis will need emissions certifcation to renew the liscense plates.

answer...certify,then add uncertifiable parts and roll till next year,then take off, recertify and repeat

well it is already in your state...how hard would it be to get it enacted for the rest of it??

You had to know it was coming. I think its been around the Chicago metro area for 30 years, & expanding.

I think that the IL side of the quad cities area is still safe from emissions requirements. For now anyway.

They have had to do that for years. Back about 8 years ago I heard a rumor that the whole state would have to do the emmission thing like Chicago and E. St. Louis. That was suppossed to happen about 3 years ago.....still don't see it!!
