- A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
We use to do this on the old board a long time ago....take songs, change the lyrics into something else....it was fun....here ill start....they can be funny, serious, whatever.....List the original song before the new lyrics....
Orignal Song- "Fancy" Reba Mcentire
I remember it all very well lookin' back
It was the summer I turned sixteen
Daddy Bought me an old primered ford
from a man in east tennesee
We made our money, cookin’ and runnin’
To say the least we were outlaws
Daddy spent every last penny he had
To make me a night runnin’ car
Me and daddy tore that ol V8 down
And built it from the crankshaft up
Then I sat behind the wheel, turned the key, and that rumble scared me half to death
It was torquey and lord it sounded good
Lookin in the mirror
There sat a Man where a little ol boy
once was
He said here's your one chance Junior don't let me down
H said here's your one chance Junior don’t let me down
Daddy loaded up the shine in the trunk
then he threw me the keys
Then I heard the quiver in his voice
As he started to speak
He looked at the car we built looked at me and took a sorrowed breath
He said Im passing it to you son, do me proud and watch your back
He handed me a Sawed of 12 gauge and said
"Son I think you know what to do”
And I shivered as I thought
about what I was gettin’ into.
It sounded like somebody else that was talkin'
Askin' "Daddy what do I do?"
He said “use the curves, watch the temp,
and those revenuers will never catch you”
He said here's your one chance Junior don't let me down
Here's your one chance Junior don't let me down
Lord forgive me for what I do,
But im getting old son and now its up to you
Don't let me down now, your gonna make your family proud”
Well, that was the last time I saw my dad
When I left that hot august day
The bank came and took the house
Daddy went to jail and I ain't been back
But the wheels of fate had started to turn
And for me there was no way out
And it wasn't very long 'til I knew exactly
What my daddy been talkin' about
I knew what I had to do and I made myself this solemn vow
That I's gonna be someone someday
Though I didn't know when or how
But I couldn't see spending the rest of my life
just a runnin’ this ol shine’
I might have been born just redneck boy
but junior was my name
He said here's your one chance Junior don't let me down
He said here's your one chance Junior don't let me down
It wasn't long runnin runnin’ the booze
when I took it in off the street
And a while later I was makin left turns
on a high banked Daytona street
I Met the king, cale, donny and bobby
And even won the 500
Then I got me a Georgia mansion
with a big ol garage out back
And I ain't done bad
Now in this world there's a lot of self-righteous
hippocrates
That would call me bad
And criticize daddy for letting me run
No matter how long he had
But though I ain't had to worry 'bout nothin'
For nigh on fifteen years
I can still hear the pride and worry n in my poor
daddys voice ringin' in my ear
Here's your one chance junior don't let me down
O Here's your one chance junior don't let me down
Lord, forgive me for what I do
But im getting old son and now its up to you
don't let me down
Your gonna make your family proud
Oh I hope I did….
