ok i got my rough truck out and it wasnt running quite right so i cahanged the gas and filter. it runs better but when you give it throttle it wants to die (power valve i am sure). but when you do get it running it runs good down the road. then it starts missing and acts like it isnt gettting fuel. then start it a minute later and it is fine. it has a stock fuel pump on it, could it be going bad? looks original to me. advice PLEASE!

Are you sure you have a 2.8L?Your profile says a 94.anyway might be the tfi module on the distributor.

Run seafoam through the system see if it helps.

my old rough truck was a 94 ranger, i now have an 85 bronco II. it has points distributor,i did away with the electronic one. so it isnt that. i havent tried seafoam but i put carb cleaner additive to the gas with the right proportion. so it has cleaner in it.....

Your points may be dirty or need adjusted. In my opinion seafoam is the best. That other stuff is like adding water to gas.

Mechanical pumps go bad,I'd check all rubber gas line connections from tank to pump for cracks and loose connections, could be sucking in air and loosing it's prime.

My points and distributor was brand new last spring and i only ran the truck for a collective time of about 12 hours last year. so i am not saying it is impossible but i doubt it. it has a boat tank with the gas line running inside the cab, they all look good no cracks or loose fittings. i am going to do a pressure test tonight.... thanks for all your help

If you are running a points distributor, a bad condensor can cause similar symptoms to the ones you have.
