I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of why my 1996 Ford Ranger is idling bad. It either maintains a high rpm or idles extremely low almost at a stale. It never stales, but I feel it is affecting my overall engine output. Can someone please let me know what they feel could be the problem.

Sounds like a vacum line...

Also check your PCV it could be dirty...

another thing that might... i dont know about 96's

but the IAC

idle air control valve...

They often get dirty and can spray out with carb cleaner...

If im wrong it wouldnt hurt to check these anyways !
