AS long as the f150 is set up for towing. It should do it fine.

You should be fine.

I pulled my 77 LTD II on a 18ft car hauler with my 96 F150, no trailer brakes :) and it stopped it and cruised along at 60 with the O/D off just fine. Mine a 300 inline/E4OD with 3.55 gears and 4wd.

later,
Dustin

Yeah I used to tow my 84 tbird stock car to the track with the car on the 18 ft trailer and about 500lbs of spare parts in the bed with the 4.2 V6 ... Just check to see if it has the large bumpstop/overload bushings on the axle if it does make sure you get the car up far enough those are resting on the frame. If you dont its going to be the roughest ride you could ever imagine. It didnt take much to get them on the frame so I wouldnt wory about it normally my toolbox and set of 4 spare tires and rims would have it on the overloads.

There's an F350 with an enclosed utility body on it that drives around here pulling a Bobcat 425 mini-hoe and sometimes a T250 trackloader. The engine is singing whenever it goes by but it's been pulling it for about 9 years back and forth past my house. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

My 2000 expedition with 5.4l and 125k on the clock plus etra weight of 4x4 pulled a 16 footer just fine with my 2000 mustang v-6. Both vehicles were packed to the gills from moving. Gas mileage hurt real bad around 10-12mpg city. But was real stable and pulled hard. No problems. Braking was OKish. But I wouldnt try to avoid rearending anyone.

Pulled my 4900#, all steel body jeep just fine. I'd imagine a mustang is about 3800#, so you should be fine.

That Jeep left the factory at 2,700#. Are you including the trailer in that weight?

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
???? my 85 CJ7 cat scaled at 4250# it was too heavy to tow behind the old man's 21 foot Toyota motorhome. so he bought a samurai instead.

I've got an '02 5.4L F-150 and tow with it all the time. My 17' fish & ski doesn't weigh much, but I've used car haulers to tow my BII and even a 4,000lb+ Lexus LS400. A mustang should be no sweat.

Mustangs are between 3800 an 4200. A bone stock Gt from 2000 tips the scales at I believe just over 4k One of the heaviest sports cars out there.

I can't see a foxbody weighing that much, they are pretty much a fancy go-cart with a V-8 stuffed in it.

I have pulled way more than a new GT with all the trimmings with my '02, I would say about 7k (incl trailer) is my limit... with 3.31 gears. I hauled my grandfathers 4x4 S-10 and it couldn't have cared less.
