Does anyone know the process on claiming an abandoned vehicle that is parked in an apartment parking lot? The vehicle in question has been sitting in the parking lot for nearly 10 months and has not moved. I think that the owner of the vehicle was evicted from the apartment complex and just left the vehicle. I know that the forms have to be filled out by the owner of the land but I am lost after that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
you have to be the owner of the land, or have something invested in the vehicle, say towing or repairs and the owner never paid. if you meet that criteria then you fill out the forms, wait what ever time you local DMV says to wait and you may need to make owner notifications.

Try getting the guys details and call him. See if he still wants the car, and if not, offer him a few bucks as an incentive for him to send you the keys and title. :headbang:

We did this with an 87 crown vic that sat at my dads work for a few months. He went out one day and it was unlocked. Found the guys name in the glove box, looked him up, called him, and he told us it was actually his sons car and that he'd moved out of the country. Said his son put auto tranny fluid in the engine, and he parked it there when it started knocking! (BAD) He told us the keys were under the floor mat and that he didnt want the car anymore. We went out, got the keys and jumped it. (it sounded HORRIBLE!) Ended up sending the guy a check for $100, he sent us the spare keys and the title. Got it towed about a week later, pulled the motor at our house, and got an 8.8 rearend in exchange for the rest of the car when we scrapped it.
