i was going to rebuild mine until i check the bores they are .010 over at the top. my question is has anyone had there blocks bored and how about how much to do it. ( just the machining)

The 2.8 page in tech library lists availability of forged pistons for a .030 overbore,so I assume you can go that far if you need to.

Used to be 25 bucks a hole at the shop I worked at 10 years ago. I'd bet that it has more than doubled since that time.

This is good information to know. I was thinking about taking the 302 out of my truck and dropping in a used, low power, low compression 2.8l. Does anyone have one I could buy, preferably with warped heads. lol

ya i was looking for a 2.8 for awhile. if i dont find one soon i will be doing the 4.0 swap. hope the tranny will hold up hahaha

If it is a Toyo Kogyo it will handle a stock 4.0L as long as you don't shit kick it. An FM145/146 on the other hand...

Any cylinder head will warp if it gets hot enough. 2.8L's are the least prone to cylinder head issues of all of the Cologne V6's, followed closely by the 4.0L.
