well i want to put a turbo in but not from a thunderbird and need help on where to get the parts like a turbo head, pistons, turbo, cam, turbo manifold and every thing else that is needed and i don't want a really high price turbo just one that will do the job and not be really old. you know any good sites. But i will put in a thunderbird turbo if i have to. let me know the best way to do this and i dont want to do a swap.

need more info... what size motor, what use purpose, if you have a ford lima 4 cyl... why wouldnt you like the t-bird turbo? it was engineered to work perfectly with the motor for performance and longevity.

There is no need for special parts in the bottom end AFAIK...they are the same in all the 2.3 short blocks...except for the pistons...and they need to be forged...

The head is also similar with larger valves and a few people on here have used the stock 2.3 4 plug (and some used the 8 plug) heads in Turbo applications...

but you can buy aftermarket turbo chargers and exhaust or have them custom made...just depends on how much you want to spend...

I would assume you are considering a 4 cylinder though...and there are only 2 options for that in Rangers (well, OK...there are other options of course)...so sticking with stock parts is usually cheaper...

You could always go with a Volvo B234F head and intake modified to fit a 2.3 Lima engine. It's a lot of work, but I have read the results are well worth it. But if you're going to turbo charge your Ranger, a Merkur, a Turbo Coupe or an SVO Mustang (good luck finding one) engine are the prime candidates for this swap. I have some very good wiring guides that someone sent me that would be helpful as well. Just PM me if you need them.
