Hi, what radiator is everyone else using on their rig? My stock one on my '84 is not cutting it and I wondered if there is a cheap and or easy upgrade. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

The hose location on a 2.3 is the same as a sbc, which is the opposite of all other Fords. There are MANY aftermarket, all aluminum radiators out there for for sbc's. You just need one that will fit the space and make some mounts.

you can run a 2.9 or 4.0 radiator with the 88 2.9l ranger upper hose and the lower from an 88 tbird or mustang 2.3. at least that's what i did on my ranger.

I've got the 2.25" thick heavy duty unit from the auto 4.0 explorer. The hose locations are opposite the engine but that's nothing some crafty hose splicing cant fix. Otherwise it just bolts in. My coolant temp has never gotten above 185 (even when it was 100 out) with that radiator in there.

^hmmm that's a good plan. I have a spare 4.0 HD rad here. I think I know what's going in my 94 turbo swap now.

I'm running the original radiator in my '84 4X4. Haven't had a bit of trouble with it.

Frankly in a ranger I'd run a mechanical fan.

Ever hear the saying:
"It's stupid, simple AND IT WORKS, which means that mabey it ain't so stupid after all?"

It is an extension of the "K.I.S.S." principle
