My wife bought a 2002 4wd XLS with a automatic...with push button 4WD on the dash.... This is nothing I'm accustom too (hi Tech sh*t):thefinger:

jumped in the thing after getting it home, and it feels like the front end is under load... like it takes off normal them its slides into 4wd.

Any ideas on what the deal is?

Doesn't sound normal. That system has the ability to engage the 4x4 on it's own if the system thinks there is a wheel slipping.

Yeah I see that in the manual.. if working correctly I think it's a asset for a young lady traveling the roads in bad weather...
A few sensors Hi low.. the motor that engages the transfer case the 4x4 modual behind the glove box... and the limited slip system...

I'm probably going to pull the front drive shaft and read up on how to diagnose this servo 4x4 stuff... It's kinda neat just not my thing.

It seems to me like that's exactly what you'd want one to do if you're launching it hard.

Took the front drive shaft off and gained much more power.
Had a bit of a roar from the front still.. replaced the drivers side front wheel bearing, that's fixed.

So the car is now stable to drive I will play with the 4x4 stuff and see if its out of whack.
