Is it possible to adjust the front brakes, (1998 Ranger 4x4). Lately when I stop the rear brakes grab and lock up and I just slide to a stop. Even if I am really light on the peddle. It is almost like the front brakes don't do anything.

sounds like to me that the rear brakes are out of adjustment, contaminated, or worn out.

I just replaced everythihng in the rear this fall. I backed up and adjusted them. That seemed to fix the issue. But in like another few weeks the will get tight again. Whatever I will just have to drive in reverse more often to readjust them.

I'd pull the drums to see if you have a wheel cylinder leaking or even an axle seal. The rear brakes locking up that easily sounds like oil in the drum contaminating the shoes.

Oh and no, there is no adjustments on disc brakes.

Mine usually lock up on damp mornings. Does this happen all the time on your truck?

when u changed the brakes it is pretty likely that u might have goton sme grease on the pad.that might be causing the problem.also it could very well be adjusted to tight.so take the drums off and manually adjust it.it should have just a little grab when u spin the drum
