You don't have school for the first day of hunting season.

Yep, my kids don't have school today because it's the first day of hunting season. It got me to thinking, with so many people that will probably be hauling a deer in the bed of their Ranger this year? Why don't we have a hunting forum?

it gets mashed into the tailgate along with politics, half naked women, and jokes or humor. ive only seen maybe 10-15 guys that are religious about it.

that is very funny though. wish i had work off for a reason like that...

It's way to expensive for me now in Oregon. Last year it was $50 for elk tags and License. Now it's over $100. Usually we either skip school or leave in the morning and comeback before school starts, which is at least 3 hours of good hunting. Then after school you go for an afternoon hunt.

I feel for you man. "Resident" tags for deer are 40 bucks here and in some areas of the province, you are allowed three tags.

Tags are just a small part of the expense of hunting... :D

What irritates me is paying to hunt an animal that the govt denies ownership of if you hit it with a vehicle. Either claim it or don't :temper:

My credo
Work hard and play harder
Hell in NM an out of state resident tag for either sex elk ranges from $345-375. Expensive is an understatement. But what am I going to use my 30.06 for considering I cannot hunt deer with it in the state of IN.

Some reason I wasnt into hunting as much this year, not sure why but I assume that I have a thousand other things to do that they just seem to take over.

One thing that did kill me a bit was gas to get back and forth. 1/4 tank to point A and B and with gas prices over $3 a gallon, that was really putting a hurt on me.

Every year I take the day off work for opening day of gun season. Hopefully my lil bro will be hunting next year, just has to go through the hunter safety course.

It was an excused absensce back in my day. Also went to school with guns in our cars and trucks and nobody cared. Easy 20 rifles in the lot during hunting season
