I just put new rotors and bearings on the front two last night, but now whenever I go forward (keep in mind, forward) the ABS pump WILL NOT shut off, it turns on automatically once I hit like 5mph and won't shut-off until I hold 35+ for at least 45 seconds.... even then its only off until I touch the brakes, then it immediately kicks back on.

The ABS shuts off when I come to a complete stop or when I go in reverse.

There is no ABS light that comes on, so no codes to read....any ideas?

I found a temporary solution, I yanked the ABS fuse in the dash, showed it whos boss... haha

I know this sounds silly- Did you install abs rotors? Maybe the parts house gave you non-abs rotors with no tone rings on the inner hubs. Josh

nah I checked that before I installed the rotors... they do have the tone rings on the backside..... At the moment the problem is more a nuisance than anything, I yanked the fuse to shut-off the ABS system..... I can still stop proper... but now the ABS light is constantly on, lol

Are your brakes grabbing? Does the steering get wacky when you brake?

yeah my brakes grab fine, no wacky steering or anything. Brakes still squeak when they make contact with the rotors though.... even though the pads have 80%+ life left.

This is happening to me. (sorry, don't mean to high jack this thread). I just got my Ranger. The steering jerks to the left. Also the ABS light came on for a short time. It always feels like the brakes are grabby. What does this mean? Thanks. (sorry again)

I would start by cleaning off the ABS sensor in the rear diff, and if you have 4 wheel ABS, clean the front sensors. I have had metal shavings (sensors I believe are magnetic) stick to the sensor not allowing the sensor to get a true reading causing the abs system to engage, but at the same time it never threw any lights in the dash.
