i put a 8.8" rear end my 85 ranger, which had the 7.5" and i was wondering would the backing plates and brake assembly on a 7.5" work on a 8.8"?

i don't believe so. you would not want them too either because the 8.8 has 10" brakes and the 7.5 has 9" brakes.

I've converted all my Rangers from 9 to 10". 10" was an option on the 7.5. All Ford trucks have the locking up rear brake problem. You just need to get the adjustment just right. To loose and they grab, to tight and they grab.
