I live in texas, so, what exactly would be my process for aquiring one legally?

Exactly... Do you live in a communist state (Ex: California, New York, Illinois, etc.) or a free state (Texas, Nebraska, Arizona, etc.)?

nah i'm just looking for a nice rifle, and one that's big enough to kill wild hogs without being too expensive to keep fed, you know?

i'm at least 65% sure i can use an M14 in close quarters home defense.

just gotta go shopping around for a good deal.

Yes, a long heavy rifle with a low magazine capacity... not the best weapon for HD.

What ever you do don't go down to Big5 and get a gun unless its a 870 shotgun. Get a quality rifle from your local gun store.

AK or SKS. Both are cheap to feed, light weight and enough punch for criminals or wild game. I have an SKS and have taken down full grown cattle with it. Very effective and intimidating
