Default my way back into RBV's...an overpriced B2?

Well, since I don't have my ranger anymore, and I miss her so, I found this on my daily craigslist searches. It's a 88 B2 I wanna go look at and maybe buy...so none of you try to out bid me cause I'll find you and, and, I WANT A RBV AGAIN!!!!!! The price at $3,000 OBO just seems a little high even for 67,000 "ALL ORIGINAL MILES", what would be a reasonable offer? I'm thinking like $2000 at most, after all it is still a 88 B2, not a 69 GT500, you know. And...What mpg's do 2.9's normally get? Anywhere close to mid 20's on highway would be amazing, cause I travel about a 200 mile round trip every third weekend.

Contact the owner should be looking at it this upcoming week...

and did some research...
NADA says $2,410...I say
http://www.nadaguides.com/default.as...1&z=53228&da=1

**KBB say $1,300...that's more like it
http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/ford/br...&mileage=67800

**Edmunds say >$1000...even more like it

*All options listed were the known options of the actual vehicle
**A 1990 B2 was used, as they did not have the 1988 model year, does 2 years really make a $1000 difference?

I was going to say $1500 sounds fair. It is in good shape and very low miles.

I know rangers are the rear fender wells are the major rust spot but where is it on B2's? Also I know this one has the 2.9, what should I look/listen/smell for a good running 2.9/drivetrain?

Also, as far as transfer cases and hubs goes...I'm wanting manual, but will take auto stuff...most lower model gen 1 B2's I've seen have manual, is this true? The only auto stuff I've seen is in the Eddie Bauer's.

anyone?

Bueller?

going to look at it tomorrow on my way out of town for the weekend? Any advice or Bronco specific?

It got reposted too...looks like it has a crack in the windshield and needs new tires and a muffler, both were planned to be replaced anyway if bought.

I do not own a B2 so I am going to be as helpfull as I can from seeing pictures.

The places I have seen them rust a lot is the front part of the rear quater.
I know that 2.9s like to have a lifter tick to them so if it doesn't have that then that is great.

Use the fact that it needs those things to get him to lower the price.

my bronco has less miles then that one but both rear fender corners behind the doors were rusted out i found that out when i put a hole right thru the thick layer of paint. also i got about 700kilometers on a tank 90% highway on a 650kilo roadtrip.
so roughly 19mpg

gave up on the b2...the person never called back, and im noit going to hassle with trying to talk someone down half of what they want.

Found this though, behold the greatest ranger combo ever made...in the stylish form of a Mazda B2300!!!!

SWB...2.3...5spd...4x4

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/2024024552.html

going to look at it wednesday...
