My school doesn't offer a co-op as far as I know. I'm just in my first year of the actual engineering school though so I'm still learning quite a bit.

Default Bumper

Well, my spring perches and shock mounts didnt come in. and i was at my buddies which is where i have welding access. So i looked around in my barn and found a few feet of 2 x 2 x 0.25" tubing. So i was like, i will go make a bumper. So i went to the office real quick and drew up a simple bumper on 3D CAD and printed out drawings with dimensions to make the build easier.

I want somthing tough but not big and bulky. my 1/4" wall tubing is also heavy so i dont want to use too much of it to save in weight. I also dont want it stickin out the front too far but do want a winch someday. so i integrated a 2" receiver into it.

heres what i came up with:
and the frame connections are not shown in the drawings

Front:

Top View:

Drawings...

D28 being put to good use finally. Holding down my saw horse while i cut the tubes

Main Straight Pieces

One of the Top sections. Cut them all with a sawzaw

Kinda my plan for the 2" Receiver

Something like this. Cept 2" lower. Yes, i do have DIXIE Horns

Top ready to be tack welded. Ran out of material to do the bottom angled members

Thanks!

And no. i am leavin them full width! its gonna be sweet. I think lol. But i have to come up with some kind of flares. Ohio law states no more than 3" of tires can stick outside of the flare. I know this is going to be an issue since i want to drive the truck daily. I just got a ticket for tinted windows and no front plate on my powerstroke so i know they are not going to like the wide stance. but i will figure that out when the time comes. Plus the bumper height is going to give me issues. I will have 2 trucks that are asking for tickets... hmmm i gotta make one of them a smaller distraction some how lol

**ALSO UPDATE:**

I bought a ring today. Wallet is light now but its all good. This means i can start buying parts and get this build rolling!

And If you know who i am, dont tell anyone. no one knows yet. well, except trs

I am been slacking. Sorry guys. I have been pre-occupied with other projects. The guy that bought my 79 couldnt pay me so i repoed that and have been trying to get it road worth so i can get a little more out of it. Plus its been raining here a lot which hurts motivation to work... until i see mud holes

I have my new spring perches, shock mounts... that need to be set and welded to the rear axle. I hope to accomplish that this weekend. As well as finish my bumper. I also picked up a spool for my front D44 for $40
