How exactly do I do this? Will the GM part bolt right up or do I need to modify something? Where can I find the weber carb that was mentioned in my last thread reply?

You can use the stock coil and mount the module to a good heat sync with the grease to transfer the heat. There are alot of ways to use that distributor the 4 wire hei being the cheapest and probably most dependable. Although my duraspark module works really good you would need the one with the blue grommet. If you use a 12 coil then you dont need a ballast resistor I am pretty sure your engine has the 12 volt coil. If not just get a cheap TFI coil the square one it will jump a gap of 7/8 inch enough to knock you on your ass.

only pic i got of one of my old trucks, doing the conversion really cleaned up the engine bay and made the truck a lot more drivable, my gm HEI heatsink is behind the carb, I made a custom braket to mount a tfi coil.

Now where can I purchase a carb?

Thanks everyone for the information on getting rid of the MCU on my 83 Ranger. Now my second question is, what single bbl carb can I swap into my truck. Mine has the one with the air/fuel mixture module bolted to the side of it. Also, does any one sell a 2 bbl manifold conversion and what carb is used with that?

If you were closer I'd offer to sell you my Motorcraft 5200 and intake. They came off a 1978 Ford Mustang II and works pretty good...needs minor tuning once in a while but otherwise works good...and not too hard on gas as long as the float bowl isn't overflowing...but that's easy to fix...

As mentioned...check the junk yards around you for older mustangs...Mustang IIs in particular...or the ones on e-bay...or cl...or Kijiji if you have that...
