Howdy, I am new here to The Ranger Station and I am very much pleased in the information available. I have had two Rangers one being a 87 and my newest addition a 84 2.8 4x4. It all started a few years ago while stationed in Fort Hood, TX when I purchased an 87 2.9 ranger 2WD for 500 bucks. My friends and I would go camping EVERY weekend out in the back fort hood woods. We took that little white ranger through every thing we could throw at it (trees, DEEP mud pits never getting stuck, cows, mountains, rocks, more trees along side it, sideways at 55mph, a shift assembly, a couple breakdowns, and even more zip ties : ) Well now it is a few years later and I proudly am an owner of a beautiful 84 ranger. And the best part is it was only 300 bucks! I just finished rebuilding the carb and decided to drop the trans and rebuild it. In the past 2 days I received all the information that I needed to confidently drop the transmission, and I successfully accomplished that today because of TRS and its outstanding followers and forums. Next is to rebuild the transmission, the kit arrives saturday and I am excited to dig into it with some more knowledge from TRS and get this baby up and running again. Cheers! to TRS and Cheers! to reviving another Ranger for years to come.
