i LOVE mine down there and out of the way. don't even have to look at it!
under the dash wouldn't have bothered me if i didn't already have a 2 meter ham radio hanging there.. and the FREE cb i was gave won't fit in the ash tray spot, and if i was to do that... i'd have to make it look clean and trim it out somehow. i hate the ones shown that don't look trimmed out right. if it works for them; good.. but it wouldn't work for me. it'd bug me unless it looked like it was meant to be there, not like it was missing something.

Thats why mine has just been taped to the top of the dash. I haven't been able to build up the courage to cut the dash knowing it will never be the same again.

is this clean enough? if you take your time and measure twice, cut once, it can be made to look like it belongs there.

that's fine. looks great.
but others don't take that much time into it. for them it may not matter. their rig, their choice.

AND---- that radio is a great choice for that since it has a front facing speaker built in.

thanks. i thought the same about the radio with the speaker in the front but i had removed the carpet and had the floor Line-X'd so it's loud at highway speed so i added an external speaker.

The speaker on the bottom of my dash is hooked to both my cb and 2 meter. Which solved my speaker trouble with only 1 speaker! Instead of having 2 hanging around

Mic is on a gear keeper hanging on the mirror. Linear is under the driver seat. External speaker is behind the arm rest in the middle of the two seats.

1986 Ranger XLT 2.9L V6. Running a Cobra 25WX/ST. Mounting bracket simply screwed in underneath the dash. Mic hook mounts to the side of the radio and mic cord loops around gear shift. Doesn't interfere with gear shifting at all. First pic is with gear shift in Reverse. Second two is with gear shift in 1st.
