I have an 08 FX4.

Are there any detailed guides on how to cut and weld your stock hitch receiver after a 3 inch body lift? Like a step by step guide?

I did some searching and couldn't find any with much detail.

i put a reciever on mine, made it nice and snug up under the plate, had to actually cut the bottom of the plate off.
i customized the bumper, cut the center step out, cut and welded the bumper mounts to reciever hitch that i had made and also made custom mounts to go onto frame.
ya its all custom but i always wanted to do it that way.
now the bumper is SOLID.

It's not a good idea to be cutting and welding on a hitch unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Even then, if something goes wrong you're on the line..

No guides that I know of but I got a junk yard one to install on mine and welded it in between the frame rails to get it up higher for clearance. I have done this on my last two trucks. I just cut the length of the 2x2 cross bar on the hitch so it fit tightly between the frame rails and welded it in place.

On the b2 I had to add plate on the bottom to get the strength needed and to get it attached to the frame well

Not a great pic doesn't really show the reinforcement but it's all i have.
