Hey Guys,

OK, heres the problem, and I've scoured the interwebs to find a solution, and non one seems to be able to give me a straight answer

I have installed a v8 into my 94 ranger.

the tranny is a C4, bellhousing stamp code is D9AP-7976-AA.... after review, I know this is a 157tooth bellhousing. There fore, I purchased a 157tooth flexplate (28oz), with a block plate to fit.

I tried to start this thing finally tonight, however the starter gear just spins. I installed a CVR starter (3.5hp), but I can't figure out the problem.

Im worried that i can go grab a torque for my flex plate, and setup, but im screwed if it doesn't fit, because I can't return them. I am sitting on a 164 tooth flex plate, so just a torque, and block plate would work.

Need help asap, as im dying to start and run this thing.

thanks again

Sounds like you may have a std starter in an auto trans setup. Make sure you have the correct flywheel also, per the above BCBronco's article.

yeah, turns out all the information on the net was completely WRONG. I found 1 site that listed the bellhousing as a 164 tooth, turns out, he was the only one that was right.

The casting number listed requires a 164 tooth flex plate. period. that problem is now fixed.
