I say turbo it and feed it a little boost and if you like it then go further.

In the process of piecing together a new rear axle. Going to be using either a Mustang or Mark VII 8.8 housing, 2 driver side Explorer 31 spline shafts, 4.10s, and which ever brakes are better. Will be using the 31 spline spool from my Bronco II once I get my 1 ton axles under it. Still want to stay 4 lug on the Focus so it will have to be redrilled.

Haven't found the housing I am looking for yet, but I did grab an independent 8.8 diff cover from an Explorer. It will be modified Like the one here: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?653880-Modifying-an-Explorer-aluminum-cover-to-fit-any-8-8

So I found another aluminum temporary. Really debating on going 5 lug. Only thing stopping me is that I have 4 sets of 4x108 wheels and none that are 5x4.5. And then the rear axle I am building can stay 5 lug.

I would upgrade to 5 lug, alot of foxbody owners do it. Why they came 4 lug from the factory os.beyond me.

I think I have convinced myself to. The Mazda front knuckle looks to be almost a direct swap.

At least for me. The axle spline is different than the Focus, but I'm not using them lol.
