i have and 89 xcab ranger, 4x4 and i am trying to decide if i want to sell it and get and explorer or find a full size chevy. i know dont hate me. i just like the 78-94 chevy body style. so i want to know if you can redneck up an explorer.

yeah you can.. ex's are nice. look at kroussinoffroad's explorer build. or slo-vo's...
not sure i'd call theirs rednecked...b/c they are nice fully built rigs.

what do you mean by rednecked explorer? like 2x4 bumpers? insane body lifts and co-ops?
do it right... build it right.

Isn't there two body styles and a fairly major facelift in there?
At least.

The late 70s to (at least) mid 80s were the square boxy ones, like the 87 to 91 Ford full size. I have a coworker who drives a 92 1500 and it is the rounded grille like what Ford went to in 92.

I had a 93 3500 for 11 years.I liked the way it looked I like the interior controls plus I just like the way a Chevy goes down the highway tracks in a real solid way.Replaced it with a Chevy too.I don't think these trucks redneck that well though there IFS the front diff is kinda weak for big tires.If you could pony up for the 97 Vortech its a way better motor.I would think it would take a lot of money to make it four wheel with the Explorer though.
