2000+ front IFS, what's the difference from a Jeep?
obviously the housings are different, what about the carrier?
I have an '04 apart on the bench, its 27 splines with 8 bolts on the ring gear.
uses same (or very close) carrier bearings as a 7.5, but its narrower than a 7.5
so the question is, will a Jeep D35 carrier fit a 2000+ Ranger IFS?
anybody know where I can dimensions?

The '98+ Ranger D35 IFS carrier is indeed different (narrower, I believe). Because of this there are very few locker options available (what few are available I recall are all lunchbox type).

The R&P gears however are interchangeable with the Jeep rear axle's gears.

I am not affiliated with Ox locker, but it appears they offer a unit. Now I just crawled under my truck and there's not much room for the shift mechanism so some research is in order.

I cant help with measurement, sorry.

found some D35 pics on a Jeep site, big difference in the width.
Ford IFS D35 has a side gear and the cross pin inside the ring gear housing, cannot get the pin out without removing the ring gear.
Jeep rear D35 has the pin way out in the open.
overall width of IFS D35 is about 6-5/8", 4-5/8" to ring gear surface on the big side.

I forgot I have a D35 TTB carrier here in my garage (same as Jeep), it measures right at 7½ inches wide, measuring end-to-end with a tape through the center bore (so nearly a 1" difference it seems).

I am not affiliated with Ox locker, but it appears they offer a unit. Now I just crawled under my truck and there's not much room for the shift mechanism so some research is in order.

I'd be curious how the heck Ox fits their unit into a '98+ IFS D35 housing... That has to be an error on their applications listing.

(certainly a call or email would be in order here before purchasing one)

I looked seriously at installing the Ox locker on the front of my Ranger. It is an error in their applications list. I talked with their engineer about possibly adapting what they have for the Ranger. They have a cover that is part of their kit. It does not match up to the front Ranger differential. I think the cover could be modified to fit or possibly machine a new one. I am pretty sure everything else would work with little or no modification. They were not interested in making the modification to allow their locker to fit the Ranger.

Yes, the clearance issue for the linkage would have to be dealt with too but I felt it could be done. After evaluating everything, I decided it was more work than I wanted to do. Finding out I could get a Torsen for the front also helped in my decision.

where did you get the torsen?

in the FYI department, the side & spider gears, and the cross pin look the same on both diffs. so lunch box lockers should/may fit.
the difference seems to be the positioning of the gears, they are shifted to the short side so much the pin is inside the ring gear.
and of course, there are no big C clips, instead there are smaller C rings embedded inside the splines.

I definitely don't want an auto-locker on a street driven steering axle.
