I haven't got a straight answer on this anywhere, if I convert to a mini style starter and get rid of the solenoid on the fender, will the draw from the mounted starter solenoid on the mini starter itself be too much for the ignition switch? Being cautious I know, just trying to solve a starter heat soak problem I'm having and wouldn't mind having a better/faster starter in there and cleaning up the engine bay a little more could never hurt, 1986 ranger With an 87 Lincoln lax efi 5.0/c4 if that matters

I think that the stater mounted solenoid works in the same way as a fender mounted solenoid. So its actually a relay and the switch wire only activates the relay, no large loads on the switch wire.
