whats an engine?
Transmission
Automatic
I notice the other night that the B2 is surging going uphill in D or OD doing about 55+ mph. Other than that its doing fine. My fuel filter is a motorcraft and about 1 month old. T-fluid is good. Ive been running mid-grade fuel for the last couple of tanks. Noticed a difference in performance.
Any ideas? :icon_confused:
Thanks

Is it misfiring at all during this? My truck has slight misfire at light throttle. It was so small that it barely showed up on the Tach but you could hear it. My TFI was on its way out, giving out a crappy brown spark.

I would check ignition components like the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Doesnt take much for a misfire!

it does not feel like its misfiring.
I tried to duplicate the issue last night on the same hill i noticed the surge, but could not.
i changed the plugs about 6 month ago, the dist cap, rotor about 3 yrs ago. i do need to change the TFI, I think, but i want to relocate it and just trying to find the time to do it.

Is the surging a sweep across the RPM or you are just feeling it in the truck. Perhaps something like the rear?

Try a TFI from someone on here or junkyard. It'll help you diagnose if it's really on it's way out...if not, at least you have a spare!

I know that I've had problems in the past w/ clogged injectors that made the car surge. It would happen at about 50mph and at idle.

i ran seafoam thru there a couple of times in the last 3 months. so i dont think its the injectors. but i think i will grab a motorcraft TFI.
