I will be permanently moving to Nebraska from Iowa in the next year and I have found out that Nebraska requires a "safety inspection" (as their website calls it) when titling a vehicle from another jurisdiction. Iowa has no inspection, and my parents and siblings have not lived in any state that does inspections, so I don't know what to expect. They provide a form for a LEO to fill out on their website, but it only has information about the VIN to make sure the vehicle isn't stolen. The CarFax on my truck showed it's second owner (of five if you were curious) moved to Nebraska (the truck originated in Arizona) and received a bad odometer title from the state that I figured was discovered during this inspection. If you guys have registered a vehicle in Nebraska from out of state, can you let me know what to expect?

Looks really simple. No smog or actual safety inspection. Appears to be all about making sure the Title matches the VIN. I'd sure make sure it is road worthy and that the paperwork is all in order. The previous odometer discrepancy should have already been dealt with and hopefully, doesn't reappear as a problem.

They usually just look to make sure the VIN plate hasn't been tampered with. Maybe check to see if the truck wasn't totaled and the title is being washed.

Similar to here in WA. When you bring in a vehicle in from out of state it must be inspected by the WSP. They inspect your title, check to see if it is reported stolen and then crawl around the vehicle making sure the vin number on the title matches the ones located on vehicle.
