So, now that I have had things up and running. Been trying to track down this miss I have. I have limited time to work on it which makes it frustrating. Seems really doggy, poor fuel milage (11 mpg on two tank refills) sporadic backfire when idling at a light. Occasionally after running around town a bit, when I shut it off and go to refire it will idle sporadically (800-1300 bounce) and clear up in within 10-20 seconds. I had one place try and use their scanner on it, they said their scanner would not maintain connection. I do not have a CEL on the dash (it does work)
Here are things ive done
New Motorcraft copper plugs gapped .054
New Wires
New Air Filter
Cleaned MAF
Bottle of Technron thru the tank
Tested resistance on the coil. Primaries all were .8 ohms on 200 ohm test. Secondaries were all 12.8-12.89k on 20k ohm test.
I am not 100% sure how to test the switching signal on the coil.
I am a bit boggled as other things I could check. I am getting ready to pull the plugs again to see if it will give me clues to a particular cylinder or cylinder set. Need to replace fuel filter as well.
Could use help and input, 11mpg sucks, just not as bad as sluggo performance
