I'm in the Wichita area. I need help finding a Bronco II or Ranger 4x4. I want one that is not all rusted out. I would prefer a carb version as the swap I want to do will have a carb engine. I have been all over Craigslist and Ebay with minimal results. I'm willing to travel a bit but don't want a week long adventure to pick it up.

Are you looking online at the major cities? 4x4 rangers aren't as plentiful but they are out there, also must people beat the piss out of them so finding a clean one isn't easy.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
you looking for a 1st/second gen??

what type of intended use are you looking to do with an engine swap in mind?
what type of engine...decent power v8? small diesel?? 4.0 from last truck??

if you want an older model, and plan a v8 for 4 wheeling with some bigger tires, go with a efi swap and a 2wd truck. swap in a set of fullsize straight axles of some sort.

cheapest/easiest power per dollar likely an ls 5.3 setup with a 14 bolt/10 bolt-dana leaf sprung combination. it would net a venerable setup

if you have a nice 4.0 you want to find a home for, you will atleast want a d35 equipped truck.....so finding a stock 4.0 truck with a blown engine is the best choice...and that will be a gen 2 truck in most cases.

its much harder to find cost effective trucks in good shape...they race them out west and a decent truck....even an 84 model in 2wd you can drive home goes 2 grand or so.

the time of the nice 500 dollar trucks falling out of the sky seems to have passed....

Needs a little TLC around the wheel wells but isn't terrible (kinda depends on the underneith part though)

We went down to Culver Kansas and got a plow a couple months ago, I live an hour east of Omaha, it was daylight when we left and it was barely daylight when we got home.

For a rust free truck south will be your best bet though. :icon_thumby:

My intention is a 302, C4, with solid axles in a Bronco II. I have the built 302 all ready from a Jeep project I was working on. (I was rear ended by a semi and it ended the CJ7s life). I want it to have "some" road manners so I do not have to trailer it to the 4x4 areas.
