nice little project. Its kinda nice working on something that simple after spending days at work messing with new stuff all day. at least I always thought so.

Oh you said it. Sometimes I get so used to working on complicated problems that the easy ones go right over my head. Today I spent two hours on a Focus to figure out the clutch switch was bad, and another hour to determine that the 3rd brake light on a truck cap had bad LEDs. Somehow it just seemed like both of those should be bigger than they were.

Ok, I am tired, sore, and confused. I need help here.

I can't figure out this transmission coupling. I bought torque converter listed as being for a C4/5.0 combo. I checked it against the existing flex plate and the studs lined up perfectly. Set existing flex plate against C4/5.0 bell housing, it doesn't fit at all, not surprising since said flex plate is presumably for an AOD.

Go to swap meet today, find flex plate that says 302, count teeth, 150-something, guy says it came from a C4, has the big 50oz looking-sized weight on it, grab it, bring it home, check it, it lines up on the crank, it fits the bell, the converter studs don't line up. WTF?

I am about to start cutting stuff up until it fits together the way I want. I am good at that, this auto trans BS is for the birds.
