I have an 02 ranger with a 3.0 and a 5 speed, and I am beginning to ponder the idea of swapping a 5.0 I have from my 86 f150 that I had into it. It is fuel injected but I am thinking of putting a carb onto it. Yes I know, keep the injection, bla bla bla.
But anyways what I am wondering is what manual trans everybody is using? I read somewhere that the trans in my truck should be the mazda built M50d and its recommended to use the heavier M5od2??? from a full size truck. Would the existing 5 speed mount and stand up to the power?
Not building a ton of HP, think around 250ish with the Edelbrok performer package, but not sure yet. As I said, just pondering ideas for now.
