Induction:
Kurtz Kustomz offers a Tru-Rev Induction Kit that replaces your stock air box with an S&B Powerstack filter, billet mass air adapter, mounting bracket, hardware and instructions.
Summit Racing carries the Street Performance Electronics throttle body spacer Part # SEL-40015. These are said to increase the velocity of air and fuel into your engine and at the same time create an air flow vortex that improves fuel atomization and increases combustion for up to 20 more horsepower.
A 63 mm throttle body is available as a replacement for the 58mm throttle bodies.
Summit Racing carries the BBK 66mm Throttle Body Part # BBK-1580. These are listed as having a possible gain of 8-12 horsepower.
Summit Racing carries the Granatelli Motorsports mass airflow sensor Part # GRN-70004019-05 (Ranger) and # GRN-70004019-04 (Explorer). These flow about 45% more air than your stock sensor for an extra 10-15 horsepower at the rear wheels.
Vortech and ProFlow offer larger MAF Sensors. If installing a performance chip and a larger MAF Sensor, you must install the chip first.
* Replacing the throttle body and MAF Sensor will provide a modest horsepower increase in a normally aspirated engine. These see the best gains when adding a supercharger.
Paxton and Vortech offer supercharger kits for the 4.0.
Summit Racing offers a Vortech Supercharger to give your 4.0 the feel of a V-8.

Camshaft:
Competition Cams offers camshaft# 49-410-8 as an OEM replacement good for towing and all around performance.
Competition Cams camshaft# 49-422-8 is a more aggressive cam for 4.0's with other modifications. It is designed to improve midrange power and torque.
Camcraft carries camshafts for 4.0's.
Ignition:
MSD offers a DIS-4 replacement ignition control that can deliver up to 480 volts to the primary side of the DIS coils. It is available at Jegs part#121-6215.
Get a performance computer module. Summit carries the Hypertech and Jet Power modules. Part#'s are different for each year and transmission.
Exhaust:
Install JBA or Pacesetter headers
Install a Borla or Dynomax Cat-Back Exhaust system. Jegs offers the Dynomax system.

Use Synthetic fluids to lessen the drag on internal engine parts.
Consider changing your gear ratio to improve low end performance (Example 3.73's to 4.10's)
