doing a duraspark conversion on a 1985 2.8l in a1984 ranger. I got the cardone dizzy listed, however the engaging gear seems smaller and the was a shim present when I removed the old OEM dizzy. Any one got any clue.

The housing, shaft and gear should be the same on both. I never saw a shim on any I've used, but it is possible one was need if the housing went in too far.
