helo my starter went out and id like to make it better rather than just replace it, so i was wondering if there is a mini/high torque starter that would work for my 1992 4.0 manual ranger? please help soon as this is my daily driver

No, starter motor generates too much heat for a "mini" version to last very long.

thanks.... but someone had suggested to get one, he has a suburban with a high torque mini starter on it that came off a newer s10, it starts up like a little tuner car quick and lively... i was just looking for the equivalent for my 4.0

My stock starter has never had one issue, nor is there any real space concern to require anything different.

The solenoid went out once, so I swapped it out with a random OEM 4.0 auto starter I had laying around...but that's it.

There really isn't anything. The 4.0 already has the smallest starter Ford ever used on the V6s, and Chevy has a lot more parts interchangeability than Ford.

Also, aside from satisfying your jealousy, there is no point. Started is started. You may find that a new starter will do what you want anyway.

The 4.0 starter is high torque, they use the same internals as the starters on much bigger engines (like the 6.8l v10).
