I'm in the process of swapping the ranger serpentine stuff / round tooth timing gears onto the turbo coupe motor. Finally got the crank bolt loose, but I'm wondering about what the correct procedure for getting the base part of the pulley off of the crank snout is.

Any bolt puller will work dont use a jaw-type puller though.also when going back on the crank use a little oil it really helps also keeps you from ripping the seal on the timing cover a bit of thread locker is a must on that type of bolt trust me a loose crank bolt will really F! something up.

Aight, I figured as much, but I've too lazy to hit up Autozone. When I put the crank bolt back in, is it enough to put some sealer on it and hit it with an impact?

Yeah I would say so depending on how good your impact is.I just did my timing belt awhile back and I dont have a compessor at all.My truck is a 5 speed I just dropped the starter ,wedged in a big prybar then went to town tightening the bolt with a 1/2 breaker with a 5 foot pipe on the end just to be safe.The torque specs on it are pretty high as you can imagine.

400 ft/lbs or so on mine. I'll put some sealer on it, hold down one of the pistons and let her rip.
