I know its been asked and asked and asked,

I went and slipped and took a bullet for the instrument cluster white faced gauge swap from a 2001 explorer sport trac into my 1995 Ranger XLT

as asked a million times before and I need the help.

I need help with the pinouts to repin for the warning lights

even if some one can give me the link to the information I need to repin so I can get the lights working

I took all my guts from the 95 and swapped over into the 2001

only thing I am using from the 2001 is the faces of the gauges and speedo

so I need to repin my check engine, door ajar, check fuel cap.

anyones help with pointing me in the right direction for this infor mation or post a link to follow for the inromation I need to get my truck up and running again,

hell Ill even make a video and post it to youtube.com for others to see what needs done for this swap.

all I could find is this which I am sure helps these owners but not anyone after these years

That 2001 diagram doesn't show MIL(CEL) ??

But it is on C220B pin 9, comes from pin 2 on PCM

1995 instrument was already posted in this thread, get it from there: http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171283

This helped, gave me C216 pins

and I know there is a write up about which pins to move to get everything to light up correctly I just cannot seem to find it.
and I went and jumped ahead of myself thinking I could go off memory with just probing it out for movement of pins,
BUT
NOPE
now truck is down and I have got to get back up
using My Mothers Kia Soul until I can repin this bugger

Hey, RonD :icon_confused:
where did you get the PDF for the 2001 cluster pin wiring?
after further investigation its seems I do not have the Sport Trac cluster but I do have the 2001 Explorer white faced cluster ,

I found and marked all the pins for the 1995 cluster (check fuel cap C215 pin# 9 empty or pin# 8 which is hot to other lights, check engine C216 pin# 3 or pin# 2?, door ajar C215 pin# 3 or pin# 5?, and fuel reset C214 pin# 6 because pin# 8 looks to be a ground for other lights? which is for the warning of the inertia switch on passenger floor board needing reset.:icon_thumby:)

NOW

I just need to move them to the correct place for the 2001 face plate

so I am using all my 1995 gauges and plastic back circuit board, all I am using from the 2001 Explorer is the faces of the instrument cluster.
so looking to just repin the lighting to the correct illumination spots in the 2001 cluster face. :icon_thumby:

I got the door ajar light to light up correctly top center of cluster
can not seem to get check engine or check fuel cap
those two are holding me up.
I am going to assume I don't need or use the fuel reset or I can pin it to the check fuel cap as it seems it was not being used with C215 pin# 9 being empty?

making progress I think..... :icon_hornsup:
Thanks Again

I also saw request for speedo rewiring on another Ranger Forum and others. Congrats to Pintobobster on his determination!*Please post wiring finding.

So here is what I found and did to swap the 2001 Explorer white faced cluster panels into my 1995 Ranger using all my 1995 gauges and housing with the plastic board.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

CONNECTOR C216 PIN# 3 PK/LG

MOVE TO

CONNECTOR C215 PIN# 4 (MINE WAS EMPTY)

DOOR AJAR

CONNECTOR C215 PIN# 3 BK/O

MOVE TO

CONNECTOR C214 PIN# 6

FUEL RESET ( WHICH IS INERTIA SWITCH ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR TO SHUT OFF FUEL INCASE OF IMPACT)

CONNECTOR C214 PIN# 6 GY/O

MOVE TO

CONNECTOR C214 PIN# 3 (MINE WAS EMPTY)

Took pictures of all gauge settings prior to pulling dash apart and removing needles from panel.

After I got everything together (re-pinning) I left face lens off to expose needles so I could set them correctly.

I then started the truck let it idle for 20 minutes set my RPM needle at just below 1000 RPM from picture I took, I put my other needles approx center setting for my TEMP, OIL, and BATTERY. Then I drove to fuel station filled tank and set fuel needle just slightly to right edge of black marker above the F, (it use to go way past the F before but I do not mind having a little reserve fuel in take). then set up my GPS drove to the freeway and set my cruise control to 60MPH and set my Speedometer needle to match,

I then Drove home seated all my needles to correct height as to not hit/scrap on panels.

Been doing fine for the week I have been driving it. And it looks GREAT......

Also I used new Needles I bought off EBAY

The only mod I had to do to get them to fit correctly was cut them shorter to set on pins of gauges and for the Battery I pulled the metal tab out of original needle and drilled a bit larger hole in the ebay needle and push the metal tab into the new needle and it set just fine on the battery gauge no gluing or other mod and it is not sloppy or loose works like factory.

Hope this helps others with a 2001 Explorer white face cluster panel swap into a 1995 Ford Ranger......???
