Hello. As I drive and get up to highway speed, I feel this bumping from my front tires. Not a side to side bump as when your tires need balancing but a small up/down movement. I've heard the term " cupping" being used. If this is so, what causes it and how is it remedied so that if I get new tires, the same thing won't happen to them. Thanks..

Cupping can have a few causes. Balance and bad shocks are the big ones. But cupping itself isn't usually the cause of a vibration, it is caused by vibration.

The condition itself is easy to tell if you have. Just ask yourself if there are giant cups of tread missing from your tires, then look to see if there are. These will be the whole way across, not just some feathering at the inner edge.

Honestly, your issue sounds to me more like road force, which is when different spring rates in the side wall cause the tire to be functionally out of round.

Hello..Thanks for your reply.Well, I haven't had shocks replaced since I've owned the truck ( about 10 years...:shok:..)..Don't know if the original owner had 'em replaced either..I guess I'll look under there and see if they are the original shocks....Either way, I guess the truck is due shocks..Thanks again..
