Hi all

Great looking forum, seems to be a very friendly and helpful place.

I just bought myself a 1990 extra cab, which is in need of a little work in order to pass the MOT (an annual vehicle inspection we have to undergo) - really looking forward to getting stuck in and getting it on the road.

They were never sold over here by Ford, so mine was imported privately, and is a reasonably rare thing over here (at least, I've never seen another!).

Stand by for lots of dumb questions (apologies in advance!).

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome.

It (the MOT) is pretty strict, but I hopefully won't have too many problems. The fail sheet that came with the vehicle only listed play in the front suspension as cause for failure. I haven't had a chance to get the wheels off and have a look, but I'm hoping a good service and adjusting the bearings (if they are adjustable on these?) will see me right.

There are other niggles (speedo and fuel gauge not currently working, for example) but these won't cause it to fail.

Also should have said, it's a 2.9 manual.

Welcome! Been to the UK many times and can't recall seeing a Ford truck of any kind. The size of the Ranger seems perfect for the roads there. Is it left seat or right seat driver?

Hi, it's a left hand drive, so that'll take a little bit of getting used to, but not as much as the foot operated parking brake!

No, we didn't get an US Ford trucks (sadly). We did get the 97-on Explorer, but I understand they have different suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, so not many common parts with my Ranger?
