One quick question about this eliminator. Is the echo spring compressed to fit the boot in the groove and spring inside the boot or is the boot over top of the spring and then hose clamped down. I wasn't totally sure by the pictures???? Thanks

The spring should be completely within the boot (spring tension should be against the inside of the boot where it's hose-clamped down against the shaft)

Ok, that makes it much more clear, thanks for the tip (I kinda thought that was the case but a little unsure). Have you heard of anyone or yourself having any problems with this mod at all? Wrestling the spring sounds like a pain well see probably next week how that goes.

I have the spring on mine. No problems at all. The thing is to make sure it maintains sufficient outward pressure to keep the shaft seated within the differential and the spindle.

A good way to check this is while you're assembling it, shove the axle in past the knuckle as far as it will go, it should spring back out at least ½ inch or so past the point where the stub shaft seal would be against the rear of the spindle.

Ok good to hear. I will keep an eye on that installation tip when I go to install it (that may be a few weeks yet though), thanks again.

I had mine on there (I did the write up with the Echo spring) for about a year. I could flex my front out as far as it would go and the axle never came close to coming out of the diff.

Thanks mjonesjr for the great write up and additional input. I planned on using the same echo spring as well. This sure will make life easier should I have any problems with the diff and or shafts in the future. Thanks again guys.

C-Clip Eliminator (External) inner seal question

On the slip yoke there is an inner seal, thin metal and rubber. (Not the boot).
Did you folks take that part off ?
p.s. I've been waiting for an Echo spring for two weeks now. No one local has them in stock.
The Ford dealer gave me the wrong diff seals also. Said his parts database did not list a 410 ratio with auto hubs.

1996 Supercab 3.0L automatic.
