Good morning, folks. I am trying to install my Superlift prerunner steering setup and can't find the instructions. Only part I need help with is where/how to mount that funky bracket on the passenger side that holds up that side of the rod coming from the pitman arm.

I'm actually working on it right now. Pictures would be great, but if a simple explanation is available that's good, too. Looks like maybe it goes somewhere around the motor mount area on the cross-member.

I have this pic of an idler arm & bracket that I reinforced...


I also added another bolt on the front side of the bracket.

That help? (or maybe you already got it by now)

Yes. That's the bracket. That photo would have been a life saver.

Superlift customer service came through with a pdf of the instructions for me within less than an hour of my request. There were some issues with getting that thing in there with everything else installed. I'll do a write-up in a few days to document the installation of that kit in conjunction with a Skyjacker 6" lift kit.

One other thing. Did you install the tie rod ends from the top (nut on bottom) like they were originally? Or did you put them in from the bottom the way the Superlift instructions say to do it? I disregarded the instructions and installed mine the way the originals were because that is how the tapers on the spindles are reamed. It looks right the way I did it. I don't think there will be any binding or interference. But I'm not quite ready to flex it and test everything yet. photos in my project thread HERE

Yeah it's not possible to mount the tie rod ends the other way without reaming out the knuckles the other direction (and that would be senseless anyway as it would only make even worse the problem of the too-high centerlink on the tie rod angles). Maybe they sent you the F-150 instructions? (the F-150 has the TRE underneath the knuckle)

That pic is with a Skyjacker kit also. The extra bolt is actually one of the bolts for the skyjacker pivot bracket, so it's actually holding both the pivot bracket and the idler arm bracket to the x-member.

It seems fine. The geometry of the steering components seems to be good. I haven't done much wheeling yet due to other commitments. But the truck drives well on the road. I've put a couple thousand miles on it already.

I attached the tie rod ends oriented the way the original ones were mounted.

There is one picture in my build thread. (click on the green "Project: 1993 Splash 4x4" below) But it doesn't show the idler arm bracket very well. I'll try to get a better picture this weekend.

The idler bracket lies on top of the engine cross-member, jus below the engine mount. It also wraps down on the front of the cross-member. I actually cut away part of the bracket where the engine mount was in the way.

First photo- oil pan on the right. Engine mount in view at top.

Second photo - view from the front, straight-on

Third photo - front view. The 2 bolts behind the brake line go through the idler arm bracket, cross-member and passenger side axle beam pivot bracket.
