Have a 1990 ranger 4x4, ext. cab, 2.9L, want to put on a body lift, and I found one on Suspension Connection, do I need to extend the 4wd shifter too? Any other thoughts on this would be good . . .

i did a 3" body lift in my 88 bronco2. got the extender, but for some reasone the thing did not fit my rig??????? so i sent it back. any way you can make it work without the extender. but its a pain in the a$$. unless you realy need the full 3" lift id personaly would just do a 2" body lift. but thats just me. also some of the bolts they sent me were a little to long, and others seemed to short. also a big pita.

I had a couple of the early Rangers and Bronco II's that I put suspension and body lifts on. I only use Performance Accessories bl kit. I got everything I needed for my upgrade. Bumper relocation brackets as well and the gap guards. You will be happy with PA. I think you can still purchase the bl here on this site. Look into it or call PA about it to make sure before you order a kit.

Good luck, Bro.

I made a 4wd lever extension, I didn't get one in my PA kit nor do I think they offered one.

Otherwise it was way down in the boot and barely moved.

No regrets on the 3", I would do it again in a heartbeat. :icon_thumby:

You used the wrong bolts in the opposite spots! :icon_rofl:

Performance Accessories is a good brand (had a 3" on both my Rangers). Get the bumper relocation brackets. Please...

no i did not. all the bolts were the same lenghts. they were to long for all the mounts exept the two in the rear, and too short for thoughs two mounts.

I am confused about this. I have done over 20 bl kits with buddies who helped me or I helped them over the years and I have never come across this issue. What kit did you use?? Was it a home made kit you got from somebody or did you buy it?

Crap happens, mixing up two bolts isn't really very hard to do.

I was just kidding about the bolts...but, mixing em up does happen. If you get em all in, you can always cut them back if you so please. It could have also been a wring set?(shrugs)

There's no stress or tension after the nut on the bolt...so, if you did cut it, it's not a big deal.

Rebar or something similar and a welder. Not too hard at all if you have access to a welder

A hunk of pipe, a hunk of shaft and a bolt. Weld the pipe to the shaft and drill and tap a hole in the pipe for the bolt to lock it onto the stock lever. With a little paint it looks completely stock with the boot on.
