Changing clusters in my truck and I was thinking about putting LED bulbs in it. First gens gauges are all lit by reflection so a little more light would be nice.

Looking on Amazon I see a bunch of brands I have never heard of... what is junk and what is good? Are they dimmable?

I got LEDs off eBay. Don't remember supplier, but only paid like 3 bucks for 10. Just wanted to try them to see if I liked them and only takes about an hour to change them out. Mine are not dimmable, but are not overwhelmingly bright. One thing is not to just slap them in and put everything back together. Some may have to to be flipped to make them work.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Pay attention to physical dimensions. There are many different configurations using the same base as the original bulb. But they may not all fit every location. The ones with multiple LED's can be longer and wider than the original glass bulb.

As stated above, polarity matters.

LED's do not dim properly by rheostat control (the way your panel dimmer works). They are normally dimmed by using a PWM power supply. It would be a bit more complicated to do that properly.
